DELACROIX Eugène (1798-1863). L.A.S. (signed at the top in the 3rd person), March 24 [1843?], to Alphonse de CAILLEUX, secretary general of the Royal Museums, at the Louvre; 2 pages in-8, addressed. "Mr Delacroix hastens to offer his compliments to Monsieur de Cailleux and to tell him that not only does he not object to a copy being made of his painting, but that he counts on his extreme kindness to give the person in charge of the copy a small recommendation for Mr Naigeon, in order to obtain that the painting be placed a little lower during the time that the work will last. He will be very grateful to Monsieur de Cailleux for this. It will be a new mark of benevolence to join to the one whose effects Mr Delacroix has so often felt"... A L.A.S. "Eug. Delacroix", May 6 [1843], to Princess CZARTORYSKA (1 p. in-8). Returning from the country, he found his invitation: "I have been away since about the beginning of March. In spite of the early season, I had found more rest outside Paris, since I was especially forbidden to talk"...
