DUFY RAOUL (1877-1953). - Lot 79
DUFY RAOUL (1877-1953). L.A.S. "Raoul Dufy", Paris "5 Impasse de Guelma" October 13, 1923, to Bertrand GUÉGAN; 1 page and a half oblong in-4. On his engraved suite Les Plaisirs de la Paix, and Le Bestiaire d'Apollinaire. [Dufy had published the suite of four woodcuts Les Plaisirs de la Paix in 1919, with Éditions de la Sirène, of which Paul Laffitte was the creator and Bertrand Guégan the artistic director. At the date of this letter, La Sirène had been taken over by the publisher Georges Crès] ... "You have the last 21 series of Les plaisirs de la Paix which have been given in rolls to the Crès storekeeper Mr Bertrand. Do me the favor of sending me immediately a series or rather 3 series for my exhibition in Brussels [at the gallery Le Centaure]. On the inventory booklet that I saw at the office there were only 10 china series and 11 Japan, where are the others? Laffitte is coming to Paris soon, let me know. For the Apollinaire page I have a nice letter on the Bestiary with the autographed quatrains and a drawing by Guillaume. You understand that I want to keep this souvenir which I do not want to send to the post office"...
