RENOIR AUGUSTE (1841-1919).
L.A.S. "Renoir", Cagnes 7 January 1918, to Ambroise VOLLARD; 2 pages in-8 in blue ink in trembling handwriting envelope. On his work as a sculptor with the help of Richard Guino. [The sculptor Richard GUINO (1890-1973) came to help Renoir sculpt, at Vollard's request, as early as 1913]. "If you had written to me earlier, I would have advised you to take Guino as an assistant to Bartholomé, or as an aide. You can understand why. First of all, Guino is an incomparable and very serious moulder. Moreover, as I am extremely tired, very, very tired, I wouldn't mind having a short rest. My life is too complicated for my age, and I can't paint, sculpt or make pottery anymore, but I want to do everything. Guino is a charming man whom I would not want to hurt at any price and who does everything he can to be pleasant to me, that's why I give you this tip which can help me without hurting anyone"...
