ROUAULT GEORGES (1871-1958).
L.A.S. "Georges Rouault", Nice [1926, to Ambroise VOLLARD ?]; 2 pages in-4 on Villa Jim letterhead (small cracks and missing parts repaired, slight dirt marks). On the centenary of his master Gustave Moreau. He is happy to know that his correspondent is satisfied; he would like to have "a very good photograph of my work [...] I am just beginning to stop being stiff in body and mind. On the 15th, for the centenary of G. Moreau, an exhibition will be inaugurated at Petit's where I have three important pieces, and before leaving, I have finalized Souvenirs intimes before this publication in book form, and at the time of the inauguration, M. Armand Dayot will publish 10 pages of me on G. Moreau in L'Art et les Artistes with an introduction by André Suarès. We need to be supported materially - at the Museum and I, who have no taste for exhibitionism, am forced to beat the drum in newspapers and magazines. It seems that, according to Mr. A Dayot, my exhibition and the pages that I was able to write, and the collective effort of his students, will have some repercussion, I want to believe it. In the book I have added to G. Moreau: J.-K. Huysmans, Léon Bloy, Baudelaire, Degas etc. etc."...
