SIGNAC PAUL (1863-1935).
4 L.A.S. "Paul Signac", 1920 and n.d., to a President; 4 pages in-12 and 3 pages in-4, on the letterhead of the Société des Artistes Indépendants. As President of the Indépendants. He requests, in the name of his Committee, an interview, to expose "certain difficulties we are encountering for the organization of our next exhibition at the Grand Palais"... - Monday evening. He regrets not being able to come to the meeting: "The flu has just fallen on me suddenly, like a cat on a sparrow". The vice-president Luc-Albert Moreau will replace him, with their secretary Igounet de Villers. The Indépendants have the concession of the Grand Palais until the end of February: "it is cold, dark, perhaps ruinous"; they would like "to be able to stay a few days at the beginning of March", before the other exhibitors enter and set up. "You know all the services our Society has rendered to the cause of free and independent art, which has always been dear to you"... - January 11, 1920. A little disappointed, "we accept with great heart this beautiful day that you offer us, especially since, to say the truth, blessing the bissextility of the year, we believed it was ours"... - He conveys the gratitude of his comrades...
