TOULOUSE-LAUTREC HENRI DE (1864-1901).
2 L.A.S. "HTLautrec", [Paris 18-19 October 1895], to Léon DESCHAMPS; 1 page oblong in-12 (telegram-card), and 1 page in-12 in black pencil (telegram), addresses on back. About his famous poster The Chap Book, depicting the Irish and American Bar in the rue Royale, printed by Ancourt. [18 October]. "In spite of all our efforts our essays will not be finished until noon tomorrow Saturday. Come to Ancourt's at 11 ½ you will probably see the thing. If there is no accident we will be able to fire at once."... [October 19]. "Ancourt stood me up, he said he warned me, I received nothing. We have been put off until the Greek calendar, for I have to do something on Monday and perhaps Tuesday. See with him to arrange the thing, and let me know. We can't do the trials without me. I regret what is happening, but there is nothing I can do about it"... Correspondence (ed. Herbert Schimmel, 1992), no. 429, p. 289, and unpublished.
