DVORÁK Antonin (1841 - 1904) - Lot 51
DVORÁK Antonin (1841 - 1904) L.A.S. "A. Dvorák", Prague August 4, 1886, to a friend; 4 pages in-8 (some slight traces of rust); in English. He was traveling in the country, and found his letter on his way back to Prague. It is difficult for him to promise anything for concerts in Scotland. He has a lot to do in Prague in October and does not know if he can stay in London as long as his friend wants. He will be in Prague until the end of October, conducting Ludmila at the National Theater; after a short rest, he would like to make a long trip to England, but around March or April, as the days are too short and cold in December, which would make the trip unpleasant; his wife also wants to go to England. He is to give two concerts in London at the S. James Hall and the Crystal Palace. He would so much like to see the beautiful country of Scotland, home of Burns and W. Scott! "You canot imagine how I long to see Scotland this beautyfull country of Burns - Scott!" "Can we postpone this project? He leaves the next day for Vysoka, where he will receive a package from Breitkopf and Härtel, perhaps the orchestral score of Ludmila"...
