GOUNOD Charles (1818 - 1893) - Lot 69
GOUNOD Charles (1818 - 1893) L.A.S. "Ch. Gounod", [ca. 1865], to his "dear Marie"; 3 pages in-8 on blue paper. He thanks his friends for their "thoughtful hospitality"; he has returned ten times to Verrières. "My affairs do not move as fast as my thoughts: in fact, they are not moving at all at the moment: I went once to the ministry, I found no one there, neither minister nor chief of staff. I think that the hunting party in Compiègne is putting all these people in the air. However, time goes on and with it the inconveniences of a situation that worsens for me with each day of delay. - We have had another alert here about the health of Mr. Dubufe père: the three of us went this morning to see him in his country house, he is better at the moment. - And my Berthe, are you working? Do you do your exercises every day? You mustn't interrupt what you want to do. Our colds are beginning to pass: my Jean's has completely disappeared"... Attached is a L.A.S. to a lady, March 3, 1890, about the Cantique de Ste Thérèse (1 p. in-8).
