LISZT Franz (1811 - 1886) - Lot 105
LISZT Franz (1811 - 1886) L.A.S. "F. Liszt", Rome November 18, 1864, to a publisher or music dealer; 3 1/2 pages on blue paper; in German. About his works. He asks again that a package containing music, scores, and books be sent to Rome as soon as possible; he adds new orders and commissions. The manuscript of his Concertstück (in E minor) for 2 pianos, which Bendel and Pfl ughaupt played very well at Carlsruhe, is to be given to the publisher Härtel in order to be engraved soon. Giacomelli, editor of the Presse théâtrale in Paris, a package containing the following scores: the Three Psalms (drei Psalmen), the Beatitudes (Seeligkeiten), the Lieder Loreley and Mignon, the choruses for Prometheus, all published by Kahnt; plus the handwritten score accompanied by the piano reduction of the Jeanne d'Arc scene that he had sent last spring; and a bound copy of Neumann's biography of F. Liszt. A copy of the scores of his 1st Mass (for male voices) and Ave Maria (both published by Härtel) should be included. He points out that the orchestral scores of the Symphonic Poems (Symphonischen Dichtungen) "Preludes, Funeral Eroica, Mazeppa" and the Dante Sinfonie will be published by Härtel in an autographed edition at Easter. He learned from Hans von Bülow that Schuberth had taken the risk of publishing the score of the Faust Scenes (The Nocturnal Procession, and Mephisto Walzer): "Wie mir H. v. Bülow schreibt bezeht auch der fast zu geniale Schuberth das Wagniss die Faust Scenen ("Nächtliche Zug, und Mephisto Walzer") in Partitur zuediren! Möchten sie nur nicht mit gar zu zahlreichen Drukfehler illustrationen erscheinen!" He also announces the editions of Psalm 18 (for male choir), the Künstler Chor and the 3 Zigeuner...
