LISZT Franz (1811 - 1886) - Lot 111
LISZT Franz (1811 - 1886) autograph musical MANUSCRIT signed "F. Liszt"; on one oblong page in-4 (24 x 31.5 cm, slight fold marks). Beautiful album page with ten measures of his oratorio Christus. It is the aria sung by the soloist at the beginning of the Beatitudes, on the words: "Beati pauperes spiritu quoniam ipsorum est regnum caelorum". Christus was completed in 1866, and the first complete performance was given in 1873 in Weimar. The second part begins with the Beatitudes (no. 6 of the work), composed in isolation in 1855, and then integrated into Christus.
