RAVEL Maurice (1875 - 1937) - Lot 168
RAVEL Maurice (1875 - 1937) L.A.S., Morgat August 16, 1907, to Jane GAUDIN in Saint-Jean-de-Luz; 2 pages in-4 with vignette and header Grand Hôtel de la Plage, envelope Séjour en Bretagne. He finally finds time to write to her. "Here is more than a month that I left Paris by car, touring through Brittany, and following a most fanciful route. I am thus resting from the fatigue caused by a crazy work: in less than three months, I have put together a comic opera in one act, L'Heure Espagnole, on a libretto by Franc-Nohain. This work will probably be performed at the Opéra-Comique this winter, the director having declared that we would not wait long. His parents are in Switzerland: "My poor father is always getting weaker, and for two months he can hardly walk. The stay in Switzerland does him a lot of good, it seems, as much good as one can hope for"... He will leave Morgat around the 20th: "I will not return directly to Paris, which I will only pass through. I will go to live with friends, near Fontainebleau, to finish my work"... L'intégrale, n° 201.
