RIMSKI-KORSAKOV Nikolaï (1844 - 1908) - Lot 181
RIMSKI-KORSAKOV Nikolaï (1844 - 1908) L.A.S. "N. RKorsakov", [Brussels] 13 March 1900, to Michel DELINES, in Nice; 2 pages in-8, vignette Hotel Métropole Brussels, envelope; in Russian. Beautiful letter about his works. He is in Brussels where he rehearses every day the program of the concert [he obtained a triumph with Sheherazade]. After the concert he has to return to Petersburg where he is obliged to attend the rehearsals of two symphony concerts. Usually, for invitations abroad, he can always free himself, if he is informed in advance. However, it is not easy for him to be absent from Petersburg, as he is a professor at the Conservatory there, and therefore always busy and obliged to be there. As for the staging of his operas in Brussels, it is premature to talk about it, because the theater has not yet passed under the direction of Kuff erath. This staging is possible, but there remains the question of the translation, which depends on the publishers (Belaieff and Bessel). But he will see to it that Belaieff sends Delines the scores of his operas that he does not know yet. For the same reasons, he cannot come to Paris at the moment...
