HUGO Victor (1802-1885).
L.A.S. "V.H.", September 21 [1835], to Eugène RENDUEL; 1 page in-4 on water green paper, addressed. To his publisher about the preparation of Chants du crépuscule. "You surprise me and worry me. I have sent you, my dear editor, three packages, the first one was carried to your house and given to yourself. The other two were left at Mr. Bertin's door [...] where you had to send for them. I have therefore sent you back all your corrected sheets, plus (in the last package left on Saturday) a new piece entitled like one of the previous ones to Canaris and which must be placed after the piece to M. le Duc d'Orléans. Have them look for it because I don't have a second copy. I hope that you will find and I send you the beginning and the plan of the play: ô Rois le pain qu'on porte au vieillard desséché [Council] - Notre-Dame is at your disposal whenever you want. As for Cromwell, please ask my Aunt Martine to look for him, for he cannot be found here. I am afraid that he has been taken from my house"...
