HUGO Victor (1802-1885). AUTOGRAPHIC MANUSCRIT, August 22, 1842; 1 page in-8 on blue paper, accompanied by a dried flower. Program for the future king of France. [Louis-Philippe's eldest son, Ferdinand- Philippe duc d'Orléans was killed in a car accident in Neuilly on July 13, 1842, at the age of 32, leaving a four-year-old son, the Count of Paris, to succeed him]. "This flower was given to me today, August 22, 1842, at the little castle of Neuilly, by M. le comte de Paris. Madam the duchess of Orleans made me the honor to ask me to which ideas I thought useful to open the spirit of the small royal prince. I answered: Madam, it is necessary to teach Monsieur le Comte de Paris two things: the first, that France leads the world; the second, that intelligence leads France; press this double idea deeply into his mind, so that one day he will conclude from it both his right and his duties, and that he will know that, as king of France, he must govern the world, and that, as king of France, he must respect thought. - At this moment the little prince entered, charming child, and gave me this flower ".
