Appeal to his friend, when he has just been interned for an attack of madness at Dr. Blanche's.
"Five or six days ago I was taken by a transport in the brain when I left you; I went crazy. With a healthier mind, I am writing to you to come and see me if you can at Mr. Blanche's in Passy. [I don't know what happened to my money, or at least what I had left of it. But everything is found - as everything is paid for - according to the word that Balzac attributed to the great man [Napoleon]"... At the bottom of the letter, DR. BLANCHE indicated the visiting hours and noted: "I urge Mr. Gérard's friends to come one after the other, and not together.
