SAINT-EXUPÉRY Antoine de (1900-1944). - Lot 203
SAINT-EXUPÉRY Antoine de (1900-1944). Autograph MANUSCRIT, [Eight Hours to Live]; 12 1/2 pages in-4 on 13 ff. (transcript attached). Unpublished film script. The manuscript, in midnight blue ink, has some erasures and corrections. The folds show that this script was put in an envelope and sent. The action takes place on a ship bound for Lisbon, where an explorer in love, suicidal and ill with the plague, her ill lover, and terrorists who are carrying out an attack are gathered... "A ship approaches the port. Peace on board. - We drink to your return, to your engagement, Miss. A group is forming"... Felicio, one of the terrorists, has been arrested. His accomplices fear that he will speak: "From the conversation, we understand that it is urgent for them to get off at the next stop. They read the last radio: "Felicio was arrested as he was preparing to disappear. He refuses to make known the names of those who organized the terrorist attack of September 9, but we hope that by tomorrow night he will have spoken." [...] - There is no man whose silence we could not obtain. But you'd have to have him on hand. Wild laughter. [...] You have to disembark at ten minutes past midnight, even if you have to swim. [...] It's a matter of minutes. Felicio will speak "... The explorer fears to lose her lover and tells him that she has the plague; she commits suicide...
