VIAN Boris (1920-1959). - Lot 243
VIAN Boris (1920-1959). 2 autograph MANUSCRIPTS En avant, Mars !, [1952- 1956 ?]; 8, 7 and 9 pages in-4 (binder holes). Two versions of this science fiction magazine project, with plans and drafts. Passionate about science fiction, Boris Vian had prepared this review for the Théâtre des Trois-Baudets, which refused it. It includes the song of the Martian Java: "It's the Martian java/Lovers' java"... The action takes place in "the terrestrial recruitment office of the Martian legion". The first version, En avant, Mars !, in violet ink on 8 sheets of squared paper, torn from a spiral notebook, presents erasures and corrections, notably in black ink, of which the last sheet was added. The second version is titled Mars ou crève; it is a cleanup in black ink on 7 sheets of squared paper; some passages have been crossed out with a pencil. At the top of the page, a project for the distribution of roles: "Adjudant Corse - [Jean-Marie] Amato, Corporal - [Edmond] Tamiz, Civil - Guy [Pierauld], Civil - Marilo, St. Pierre - [Jacques] Hilling", all actors from Yves Robert's company. The writing was preceded by a brief cutting (1 p. in-8), then an "Approximate plan" (4 p.), and a more developed plan in 12 tables with the drawing of "the rocket during the trip and the landing on Mars" (4 p.).
