A rare letter about the affairs of the time. I know as you do, madam, where they come from; it is always a lack of humanity, of gentleness, in a word of this so rare virtue" Then he evokes a ridiculous thesis "Gladiators are not to be despised, even less so women doctors, this last article seems to me to give me free rein over the other professions. [] A comet was seen in Lausanne in the constellation of Pegasus about three weeks ago. We gave notice of it to our Mrs. of Paris who between us are not too much denicheurs of comets. Mrs Cassini saw it only once at Thury. The glasses of Paris did not see it at all. One joined a printed document: Judgement carried by the French Academy on the calumny which was imputed to Mr MANNE, Surgeon major of the Hospitals (1748).
