P.S. by the two "Corneille" and 4 other persons of their family, to the Lignery [Les Lignerits, Orne] 17 August 1673; 2 pages in-fol. with Normandy tax stamp. For Escrit sous-seing privé, mitered folio bound in brown morocco, green moire lining and endpapers (P.L. Martin). Private deed for the remarriage of the eldest daughter of Pierre Corneille. Marie Corneille (1642-1721), eldest daughter of Pierre Corneille and Marie de Lampérière, had married in 1661 in first marriage Félix du Buat, sieur de Boislecomte, from which a son Gilles; widowed in 1668, she married in second marriage in 1673 Jacques de FARCY sieur de L'Isle, from which four daughters (the third, Françoise, born in 1682, is the ancestor of Charlotte Corday). This agreement under private signature completes the treaty of marriage between Jacques de Farcy and Marie de Corneille; Jacques de Farcy commits himself to preserve to his wife the dowry stipulated in the contract of marriage with the deceased sieur de Boislecomte; Marie de Corneille brings to the sieur de Farcy a sum of 4000 livres "that she has in money of which he is satisfied", of which in case of death of the S. de Farcy she will enjoy all her life the interest; she gives moreover to the S. de Farcy "the enjoyment during the life of icelluy sieur de Farcy of his own dowry and of his other buildings with the condition that he will contribute to the maintenance of Gilles du Buat escuier his son until his majority and if the aforementioned lady survives the aforementioned sieur de Farcy she will have and will take in exemption of all loads his clothes rings jewels and cloths being used for his use with a room furnished with carriage and horses or the sum of three thousand livres instead of the aforementioned room furnished with carriage and horses with the choice of the aforementioned lady"... Signed, besides Pierre Corneille and his wife "Marie de Lamperiere", Thomas Corneille and his wife "Marguerite de Lamperiere", and the two grooms "de Farcy and "Marie de Corneille". Further down, the spouses acknowledge the terms of this agreement before the royal tabellions of Alençon on January 2, 1674 and sign again.
