L.A.S. "Pr Mérimée", January 21, 1858, to Léon GODARD; 1 1/2 pages in-8, envelope. On Russia. Mérimée compliments Godard on his new work [Pétersbourg et Moscou, souvenirs du couronnement d'un tzar] of which he has "read with great pleasure the first hundred pages. He admits his ignorance of Russia: "I don't know Russia, but it seems to me that you paint it in true colors, which is not easy, as they say. He will give Godard advice when he goes to Spain.
