MANUSCRIPT REGISTER, Register of the deliberations of the General Chamber of insurance and large foreclosures..., 1750-1751; one folio volume of 248 initialed leaves, of which only 12 are written, red morocco with lace on the boards with anchors in the spandrels and arms in the center, title in gilt letters on the upper board, spine decorated with anchors (period binding). Rare register concerning maritime insurance. This general insurance chamber was founded in 1668 on the initiative of Colbert, but eventually fell into disuse. This register testifies to an attempt to revive it in 1750 and is kept by the secretary D. Lespine. It runs from 26 August 1750 to 7 August 1751. This register, which has been quoted and initialed, is signed at the top by Pierre-Joseph Delahaye, Lieutenant General of the Admiralty of France at the general seat of the marble table of the Palais, on July 27, 1750. This Chamber brought together the shipowner Nicolas Boulliaud, the Parisian merchants and traders: Claude-Hilaire Demaisonneuve, Pierre Bourdeau, Charles and Joseph Delaleu, Pierre-François Dayrolles-Desangles, Hugues Simond, who signed on several occasions, and who would be joined by a few others, including the notary Leverrier, the directors of the Rouen chamber Louvet le jeune and Baudouin Selot. One notes the headings: "Instructions for Mrs. the commissioner directors and right of brokerage granted to the agents of exchange, censaulx &a"; "Addition to the Instructions of Mrs. the commissioner directors"; "Suspension of the delivrance of the recognitions after last October 1750"; "Instance against Mr. de Mattere"; and various conferences... In the last session, on August 7, 1751, "the Directors of the Company represented that instead of the sum of three hundred thousand livres which they are authorized to take of risks on the vessels of registers, it is however, as well by them as by the rooms of province, to have been taken, namely three hundred and twenty four thousand six hundred and sixty five livres on the ship Notre Dame des Douleurs and St Joseph, known as the Triumphant, and three hundred and twenty nine thousand one hundred and fifty livres on the Divina Pastor alias the Brillante, both left Cadiz for the Veracrux; on which the matter was deliberated, the Company represented by the Committee, approved the surplus of the said risks taken on behalf of the Company. risks taken on behalf of the Company without drawing any consequences". Bound with the arms of the Duke of PENTHIÈVRE (1725-1793), Admiral of France.
