"Bonaparte" with autograph compliment, Abbeville 10 messidor XI [29 June 1803], to Consul CAMBACÉRÈS; the letter is written by Méneval; 1 page in-4, vignette engraved with the name of Bonaparte I Consul of the Republic. [97] He "left Amiens yesterday Tuesday at 8 o'clock in the morning, after having been in pomp at the cathedral to make the prayers of departure. I crossed Abbeville; I went to S. Valery; I stayed there for six hours on horseback, riding along the most important points of the coast. I came back to Abbeville to sleep, from where I will leave in an hour for Étaples and Boulogne. Everywhere construction is beginning to get under way. I found in Abbeville, S. Valery & all along my route the same spirit as in Amiens". He adds in his own hand: "Hi".
