Manuscript in-4, red long-grained morocco, border in frame, in the center a crowned imperial eagle impaling a thunderbolt, smooth spine decorated, inner scroll, lining and endpapers of blue moire, gilt edges (Binding of the time). Manuscript of 140 pages, decorated with 3 original washings in pen signed by Béraud and dated 1811. After a stay in Versailles, on their return Napoleon and Josephine stopped at the military school of Saint-Cyr on July 23, 1811 to attend the performance of this little comic opera that the students had organized for them. Antony BÉRAUD entered the military school of Saint-Cyr in 1809 and participated in the last Napoleonic campaigns. He then launched himself into literature and collaborated in numerous reviews. Prolific author, his plays were performed in the greatest Parisian theaters. Provenance : baron Charles d'Huart (ex-libris). A L.A.S. from Frédéric MASSON, specialist of Napoleonic studies (1 page oblong in-12) about this manuscript, asking its owner to lend it to him for a while so that he can study it and take advantage of it for his works.
