First edition in French, translated by Sétier and enlarged with the continuation of the revolutions of these colonies since 1823 until today. Borba de Moraes, t. II, p. 287. - Sabin, n°91613. It is decorated with a large folding map of South America and 6 beautiful colored plates engraved by Adam, 5 of them folding, showing mainly inhabitants in costume and a view of the fortress of Calao with the city of Lima in the distance. Very rare relation of this traveler who spent about twenty years in South America, including many details on the Indians' customs and the main events that led this part of the continent to independence, in particular through the heroic figure of Simon Bolivar. Copy with the figure of Marie-Louise, duchess of Parma. Some foxing, browning to some leaves. Brown ink stain on the last three leaves of volume I.
