[NAPOLÉON Ier]. [DORIS Charles] - Lot 202
Papers removed from his Cabinet during the night of May 4-5, 1821 and published by Edwige Santiné, ex-secretary of Napoleon Bonaparte's Cabinet on St. Helena, followed by valuable notes on the last six months of Napoleon's life. Paris, Germain Mathiot, September 1821. In-8, half Russian green leather with corners, smooth spine gilt-stamped, yellow edges (Binding of the time). First edition. Author of pamphlets against Napoleon and his family, Charles DORIS, from Bourges, could hide the identity of several authors. Drujon (p. 26) notes that many people believed at the time that Doris was the mask of Bourrienne; without any proof. Provenance : Dominique de Villepin (ex-libris, Bibliothèque impériale, 19 March 2008, n° 291)
