[LABOUREUR Jean-Émile (1877-1943)].NOAILLES Anna de. L'Ombre des jours. Preceded by the speech of Madame Colette at the Royal Academy of Belgium in honour of the Countess of Noailles (Paris, Société du livre d'Art, 1938; in-4, print cover.; bound in white morocco, boards decorated with a symmetrical design composed of cold curved fillets symbolizing clouds, and dozens of radiating gilt fillets intersecting in the centre, the fillets overflowing onto the smooth spine forming two compartments of gilt lozenges surrounding the author's name and the title, white morocco lining and endpapers, gilt edges on witnesses, cover and spine preserved, spine folder with white morocco cover bands, the spine decorated like the binding, case (Semet & Plumelle). Rare edition, printed at 110 numbered copies on Rives wove paper, illustrated with 35 intaglio compositions by Jean-Emile Laboureur, including 25 chapter headings and 15 culs-de-lampe. A precious copy in lined morocco by Semet et Plumelle, enriched with an original drawing signed by the artist, on tracing paper, study for the illustration on p. 45, and one of the very rare suites of engravings in first state on BFK de Rives, first state having been printed only for a few tests. A few stains on the binding, spine of the folder browned. Some foxing.
